Adaptation and Evolution: Secondary
The Adaptation and evolution 45 minute learning experience relates to themes in Biological sciences in the Australian Curriculum, the Cross-curriculum priority, Sustainability and the General Capability, Ethical understanding. Students look at a range of structural, behavioural and physiological adaptations of animals from Adelaide Zoo. They will consider the struggle for survival for animals in wild populations. Which ones make it to parenthood? What if the environment changes? How can evolution lead to new species?
Teachers can access PDF learning resources from the Zoos SA website that provides information for a self-facilitated inquiry about adaptation to complement the introductory session.
