This student inquiry examines the features, needs, natural habitats and threats to survival of five different animal species. Students identify how Monarto Zoo has created habitats to cater for the needs of the animals and explore the causes of natural habitat degradation.
Students learn about the role of zoos, career opportunities in the animal industry, skill development and other learning pathways.
A 45 minute introductory session with an education officer about unique animal body system adaptations related to the animal collections at Adelaide and Monarto Zoos.
Go behind the scenes and experience the zoo hands-on through the eyes of the keepers and the various roles and responsibilities involved in managing animals. Activities may vary.
Where are they? What are they doing? Does behaviour change over time? Using various animal species, learn and practice a range of monitoring techniques.
This learning experience makes links to Geography and Business outcomes as negotiated for students and teachers.
