The CREST awards are non-competitive and encourage student success and the development of skills and processes. It allows students to choose, organize and undertake their own open-ended science or technology project.

The projects are offered at different levels and provide challenges for all abilities and year levels.

A range of support materials are available to help introduce and support open-ended work.

Two CREST programs are available:

  1. The Introductory Green, Orange and Blue awards are recommended for junior and primary students. As students work through activities from the CREST teacher handbook, they become more self-reliant.
  2. The Advanced Bronze, Silver and Gold awards are recommended for secondary students. These support students to develop their own projects in either science or technology.

CSIRO Education has a CREST officer available to visit schools to provide teacher and student support as they complete the CREST awards.
