This program aligns with the Australian Curriculum: Science and has a focus on Science Understanding and Science as a Human Endeavour strands.
A half hour age appropriate workshop with a Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS) dolphin expert introduces students to the Port River dolphin pod and environmental issues they face. Student understanding is enhanced with a half hour cruise on the Port River using a hydrophone to explore the home of the bottle nose dolphins.
Time is given for students to view and make connections with the museum’s dolphin exhibition. Complete your visit with a climb to the top of the historic Port Adelaide lighthouse and undertake a navigation task with a ‘birds-eye’ view of the Port River environment.
