The Ecosystems and biodiversity 45 minute session relates to themes in Biological sciences, the Cross curriculum priority sustainability and General capability, ethical behavior in the Australian Curriculum. These themes include discussion about the three interrelated elements of biodiversity; genetic, species and ecosystems. The presentation describes the role of zoos in saving species from extinction providing local and international examples. Students explore the relationship between human behavior and threats to ecosystems and biodiversity, challenging them to take personal action to address important conservation issues.
