This program has been designed to support early years children learning about traditional Aboriginal histories and cultures.

Through exploring traditional toys and games, children develop an understanding about the valuable skills gained through playing these games and appreciate the craftsmanship involved in their construction.

As well as viewing toy artefacts on display, the children get the opportunity to handle traditional toys. In small groups they discuss the similarities and differences between traditional Aboriginal children’s toys and the toys of today. Materials used to make traditional toys and methods of construction are discussed.
