In this program students’ learning is focused on traditional Aboriginal life prior to European contact. Students investigate how Aboriginal people developed technologies to solve problems encountered by everyday traditional life.

Featured technologies cover; food, fire, medicines and tools.  As well as investigating artefacts in the gallery, students are engaged with hands on experience. Students handle traditional objects and are asked to critically examine them and suggest their possible use.

Materials that Aboriginal people used to make these technologies are discussed.

This program supports the years 2/3 Australian History curriculum covering many of the key inquiry questions.
