This eBook is an inquiry trail of Adelaide Zoo focusing on animal adaptations and how animals are cared for in the zoo environment, so that the different species continue to survive.
Students will observe animals in their enclosures, take note of their physical features and observe their behaviour. They will also use their iPads to take notes, photos and videos about what they learn.
Prior Knowledge/Pre / Post Visit Learning Engagements:
- Navigate the Adelaide Zoo web site http://adelaidezoo.com.au/ to familiarise students with the features of the zoo.
- Unpack the meaning of ‘adaptations’ and habitats, the difference between natural and zoo habitats.
- Explore the terms “conservation status” and the various categories, eg “least concern”, “endangered”, etc
