Creatures’ Features: Years 4-7

A Zoo Educator will have your students up close to some of the Zoo’s friendly creatures in a live animal presentation to learn about their amazing adaptations.

Find out what animal can drink seawater and climb trees, what snake has a ‘rattle’, but isn’t a Rattlesnake and what animal makes itself look like a scorpion to scare away predators.

Creatures’ Features includes a 30 minute session related to themes in Biological sciences in the Australian Curriculum, the Cross-curriculum priorities and General capabilities. Themes explored during the session include some of the more unusual animal adaptations and reasons why they exist. Students focus on three Zoo animals to explore concepts of physical, behavioural and physiological adaptations that help animals survive and thrive in their environments.
